DUI Attorney Lawrence Taylor
Lawrence Taylor, known by lawyers across the country as the "Dean of DUI Attorneys", graduated from the University of California at Berkeley (1966) and the UCLA School of Law (1969). Before going into private practice in 1979, he acted as deputy county counsel, deputy public defender, and deputy district attorney in Los Angeles, California. Currently, he specializes in drunk driving defense and heads his DUI law firm of 11 attorneys with eight offices in California and Nevada.
Taylor has been awarded the "AV" ranking (very high to pre-eminent in ability and ethical standards) by the Martindale-Hubble International Law Directory.
In the past, Taylor also served as the judge's legal advisor in People vs. Charles Manson, was defense counsel before the California Supreme Court in the Onion Field murder case, and was retained as an independent Special Prosecutor by the Attorney General of Montana to conduct a grand jury investigation into governmental corruption. He later turned to teaching and was voted "Professor of the Year" at Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Washington, before being appointed as Fulbright Professor of Law at Osaka University in Japan. A few years later he and ten of the nation's top DUI defense attorneys founded the Regents of the National College for DUI Defense, an organization of over 800 members, and served as its first Dean.
Over the past 35 years of his career, Taylor has published thirty articles and fifteen books on DUI litigation. Among them is Drunk Driving Defense, now in its 6th edition, and California Drunk Driving Defense, 3rd edition. During the past 25 years, he has had experience lecturing on trial tactics and techniques in 38 states. His awards and accolades include being named in Who's Who in American Law and the 2005 Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. Taylor is also only one of four attorneys in California who is Board certified as a DUI defense specialist. He has appeared on numverous television shows and has been featured in such publications as the Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, People Magazine, USA Today, Lawyer's Weekly USA, and The National Law Journal.
